Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action

The Department of Corrections is committed to the promotion of equal opportunity in employment. Our services and programs will be provided in a fair and equitable manner, free of discrimination.

The Affirmative Action Plan reaffirms the Department’s commitment to non-discrimination and equality of opportunity. The Department’s equal employment opportunity goal is to attain a work force that reflects the available labor force and improving work opportunities for qualified persons of protected groups in the work force. Recruitment programs and career development programs are among the efforts supported and encouraged to ensure equitable representation of protected groups in all job categories.

This Department prohibits any act that results in reducing employment opportunities because of race, creed, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, age or other factors.

As Director of this Department, I am asking all administrators, managers, supervisors, and employees to actively support the implementation and success of this policy. In addition, I am asking every employee of the Department of Corrections to join me in developing a job environment that is conducive to our non-discrimination policies. This Departmental policy will be posted with Executive Order 4 and other official notifications within each facility and be distributed to local EEO/AA Committee Chairpersons, the Board of Corrections, and recruiting sources.
